This contribution is part of the Smart Communication project and the Humane Technology Use pilot study. It seeks to further understand the sociodigital accomplishment of translocality and the concrete enactment of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). To do so, I conducted, in Finland, a video-based ethnographic and interactional micro-analysis of translocals’ on- and off-line interactions with both their relatives abroad (videocalls) and with other migrants and locals in their host city (face-to-face involving the use of smartphones). The study involved 50 participants from 15 countries and resulted in a dataset of 30 hours of video-recorded social interactions and 10 hours of semi-structured interviews.
